Country Quiet

High on a lonely hill way out in Bland County there is a cabin where a family once lived. I first saw it in winter from far across the valley.  It was astonishing to me that I hadn't noticed it before but since the trees were bare and the sun was so bright (with air so clean and cold it hurt to breathe) it was clear as day even from that distance. This painting is how it looks in late summer. Someday I hope to paint it as I first saw it.
